Welcome to Reception.

The children have had lots of fun settling into Reception. They have enjoyed exploring the classroom, making new friends and learning their new routines.  They have been amazing.

Autumn

In Reception we have been learning about autumn. The children loved going on a walk around the school grounds to look for signs of autumn. We collected lots of different coloured leaves.

The children also completed some home learning challenges to collect some autumn treasures. We then used these treasures to create autumn crowns and leaf printing. Some of the children created autumn pictures and models. We have been very busy!

Superheroes

The children had lots of fun pretending to be superheroes. They were able to use their superhero skills to find the hidden writing. Then they used their super segmenting and blending to crack the code and read the word. Well done Reception superheroes!

Bonfire night

The children enjoyed celebrating bonfire night by creating their very own bonfire cupcakes. They listened well and followed instructions to create their tasty treats.

The Gingerbread Man

We have had a very exciting week! On Monday we returned to our classroom to find that the Gingerbread Man had vanished from our classroom. The oven door was open and the table in the home corner had been flipped over.  We found floury footprints and pieces of gingerbread dough all over the classroom leading to the open window.

We looked for clues and we decided to create wanted posters of the Gingerbread Man. We put them up around the school so that everyone knew he had escaped! Will we solve the Gingerbread Man mystery?

We have also had lots of fun retelling the story of The Gingerbread Man. We used masks of the characters and we worked as a team to act out the story.
