Stations of the Cross

10.4.25

Today, with Year 5, we led an assembly reflecting on the Stations of the Cross. We retold and acted out each station, reflecting on how Jesus must have felt during his final hours.

Exploring the Forest Area

10.4.25

Today we explored the forest area around school. We created new games using lots of the natural materials we found.

Chocolate Tasting

14.2.25

As part of our Mayan topic, we tasted lots of different types of chocolate so that we can design our own.

PSHE

10.2.25

In PSHE, we have been learning about different sized problems and different reactions people can have to these problems. We've been working on identifying positive and healthy reactions to challenges, as well as strategies we can use to help us solve problems.

Sea Life Centre Visit

28.11.24

Today we got to visit the Sea Life Centre as part of our topic of Save the World. We used our science skills to help us identify different animals and their needs and habitats. We saw lots of different creatures including sharks, stingrays and even sea turtles! We also had a great time using the tunnels to explore the different habitats of these creatures - it felt like we were right inside the aquariums! Some of us were even lucky enough to touch a star fish.

In our workshop we explored some of the core creatures at the aquarium, like seahorses, jellyfish and octopi. We learned some interesting facts about them as well of some of the problems they're facing including over fishing and oil spills.

We put our recycling knowledge to good use to identify biodegradable materials that we should be trying to use instead of plastic.

Finally we created posters to encourage others to become Sea Defenders, showing threats like plastic pollution and how they can combat it.

Pupil Leadership Roles

8.11.24

Today we all received our pupil leadership roles. We have spent the last half term researching the different roles and what we would like to do as pupil leaders. We then wrote a letter to Mrs Quinn explaining why we feel we are the perfect candidates for our chosen role and included all of our ideas to improve St. Peter's.

🙏International Welcome Mass 🙏

30.9.24

Today we led our whole school International Welcome Mass for the other classes and parents. We planned the hymns we wanted to sing to celebrate how multicultural and diverse our school community is. As part of our Opening Prayer, we welcomed everyone in some of the different languages spoken by members of our class. Each of the Universal Prayers were read by a member of our class in another language they speak. Children were also invited to wear a traditional outfit from a country from their heritage. Thank you Fr Owen for leading this wonderful mass.

🏅⛹ European Sports Day ⛹️‍♀️🏅

27.9.24

We had a fantastic day celebrating European Sports Day today. Our target was 120 minutes of activity during the day - we managed over 200 minutes! We started the morning by warming up, stretching and doing some balancing and strength exercises. After assembly, we tried lots of different Go Noodles, including a class favourite - Banana Banana Meatball! Before break time, we did the first part of our 2024m run. Most of managed at least six laps of the playground! Then after break time, we had an interhouse competition of Noughts and Crosses as well as a Boys v Girl final. Following lunch time, we finished the rest of 2024m run, then tried out lots of different challenges in the Hall, working on improving, strength, agility and fitness. What a brilliant (and tiring) day!

♻️🌍 Visit to the Recycling Centre 🌍♻️

20.9.24

Today we travelled by bus to visit Longley Lane Recycling Centre. We learnt about what goes in each of our bins and had a go at sorting out waste between the four bins and the recycling centre. We had the chance to tour round the recycling centre and see the Aladdin machine which sorts all the materials from our brown bin. We used the iPads to play some games which tested our recycling knowledge and ended our day with a recycling scavenger hunt in the centre, finding images of each of the raw materials we can recycle. We can't wait to share all we've learnt with our friends and families!
