Year 4 Mixed Media Montages

Learning in Art

Please see below for learning activities during 2021/22.  We will update as children develop their learning this year. 

Children in Reception have been learning about the artist Claude Monet and creating their own versions of his 'Bridge over a pond of water lilies'.

Children in Reception have also been learning about the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo and creating their own pictures of faces using different fruit and vegetables.

Children in Year 1 have been learning about the Manchester artist, L.S. Lowry and creating their own paintings in a similar style.

Children in Year 2 have been learning about landscapes through studying the country landscape painting of the American artist Georgia O’Keefe.  Here is a gallery of some of their work.

Year 3 have been inspired by the work of Vincent Van Gogh and Amedeo Modigliani to create their own self portrait. They have learnt how to draw their facial features in the correct position as well as how to use sketching pencils to create different tones.

Year 4 have been studying the work of David Hockney and Sasha Bom.  They created montages from photographs and other found images.

Year 5 have been learning about Impressionism through the work of Claude Monet and William Turner. They created their own impressionistic landscapes using different brushstrokes to create movement and texture.

Year 6 have been learning about self expression through the work of Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol. They painted self portraits incorporating symbolism to express their own personality, talents and culture.

Art Activities for families

Research shows that children who participate in the arts are more resilient, healthier, do better in school and go on to have successful careers.
