Parliament Week
During parliament week, we have been learning about Emmeline Pankhurst and her achievements. She was born in Manchester in 1858. She fought hard for equal voting rights for women. Emmeline made powerful speeches asking women to join her protests. We needed to choose two children form our class to represent Year 2 in the school council. First our candidates presented their speeches - We are so proud of the children that chose to do this - all of the speeches were amazing! Then we had a vote so we could fairly decide who the winners were.
English - Following Instructions
In English, we are reading the book Look Up! This story is about a girl called Rocket who wants to be the greatest astronaut, star-catcher and space-traveller who has ever lived, just like her hero Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space. During this unit of work, we will be writing our own instructions on how to make a rocket... but first, we needed to see if we could follow instructions. Look at our wonderful rockets we made and see how well we did!
