Visit to St Aidan's Foodbank
After our harvest collection some of our Mini Vinnies took all of our donations to the Hope Project Foodbank at St Aidan's. The children reflected on what they learned on their visit and how much our donations help the local community.
'On Wednesday the Mini Vinnies donated food and products for St Aidan's foodbank. We learned about how much people struggle to afford food and the importance of all the donations they receive.' (Juliana Year 6)
'As the Mini Vinnies, we went to St Aidan's foodbank to give away all the donations we got from school. It was a big area stacked with canned food, cereals and shampoo/bodycare. They told us families around the community or further come for food because they paid for the electricity so much that they didn't have enough money for food. So sometimes they give families a voucher for £40 and if they come back they get the food they need.' (Zerah Year 6)
'So the Mini Vinnies went to St Aidan's food bank ot give them all the food we collected. They thanked everyone who donated food. We all learned what they do: they give the food we collected to the people in hte area and if they come back they might give them a voucher. Again thanking everyone for the donations.' (Nicola Year 5)
